UV stabilizers are chemical additives applied to plastics or coatings that absorb or block ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun light.
This stabilizer 611 slows down the yellowing, fading, embrittlement and cracking induced by photo-oxidation. Therefore it prolongs the lifespan of outdoor products (including agricultural films, artificial turf, automotive components).
As stabilisers sold as "UV-611" are usually mixtures of a UV absorber (i.e. Benzotriazole) and a hindered amine (HALS) in a specific ratio (such as 1:1 or 2:1).
1. Water-based vs. Oil-based: Is your UV 611 a waterborne dispersion or an oil-based formulation?
2. Dosage: The model is similar, but it is recommended to conduct sampling tests in increments of 0.5% - 1.5%.
3. Synergistic Effect: When used in light colored paints, please confirm that it does not induce initial yellowing.
UV resistant: Refers to materials which has natural resistance to ultraviolet light (like some special polymers, metals etc.) and do not require additives.
UV Stabilized: Refers to materials that are not inherently resistant to light, but which gain the ability to remain stable under sunlight by adding stabilizers (such as UV-531 or UV-611).
Depending on the situation: Light Stabilizer will generally increase the outdoor life of plastics from 2 to 10 years.
The specific duration depends on:
Dosage: The higher the concentration of stabilizer, the longer the protection time.
UV intensity: Tropical regions experience faster degradation than temperate regions.
Product thickness: Thicker products are generally more durable than thinner products.
